Unfortunately, this meeting we only had time (and sort of interest) to do one person. But the plot keeps on moving.
New Character!
Robert Rorric
Robert is a native Fuarian (someone from Fura)and have been poor for most of his life. His background can be described as "challenging." He's been working up his reputation from his youth, starting with pickpocketing but working on to bigger and better things.
Robert is most notable for how short and thin he is. This makes him the ideal guy to get into tight spots.
GAME PLAY!
It is evening time in the lobby of the Seat View Hotel. A Hotel which is not only a marvel to the locals but to the tourists alike. A Building that is 15 stories high but the lobby is built on glass which is enforced with thick stone buttresses embroidered with gods both current and old, kings both great and poor, and popular motifs. The lobby looks through these large glass panels (which actually take up the first two stories of the hotel) and they look out to the "sea" which actually is the Grijalo Gulf. There sitting in his best is a man who is use to these lobbies and the glamor of the city, except after hours.
Robert sits there nervously in one of the chairs which are meant for conferences, only hoping he hasn't finally been caught. His suspicion has risen ever since his supposedly future employer sent a henchman to invite him for this business opportunity. Even though the man who invited Robert was cleaned up, well shaven, and claimed her was a personal assistant, something told Robert that he wasn't all that he was cracked up to be. There were little things about this personal assistant, like a twinge in his eyes when talking about certain things, how he held himself, and how he stared down people in the room who might have been listening in told Robert that this guy was something more than a personal assistant.
The lavishly gilded elevator at the far end of the lobby chimed. The doors sleekly slip open revealing the passengers. The first few people were business men, but then Robert saw the personal assistant and right behind him a big figure. The large man, following his personal assistant like some humongous shadow, was a neatly dressed man with a thick mustache, a monocle, a top hate and a cane. As he got closer, Robert could see on each of his knuckles there were tattoos, and could see a tattoo which looked like it was crawling out from under his collar and onto his neck. The head of his cane looks to be made of silver with a hawk head. Though, the more Robert watches the large figure he notices the more he needed the cane.
"I sorry for cloak and dagger." Says the personal assistant with a small bow, "We like to be upfront but times right now not call for it. But here my employer, Hercle Adon."
The personal assistant bows and scoots out of the way in one motion and lets the large man mountain sit in front of Robert. The personal assistant stands behind Mr. Adon and eyes the crowd.
Robert gets a better look at his tattoos and sees they are not in Hepian. Robert does recognize the writing to be from Teresing, because he has stolen many trinkets while pickpokceting that were supposedly from there. Though, he recognizes it, he cannot read it.
"It is nice to meet you sir," Robert says with a smile.
"Nice to meet you too." Says the man in a deep voice, "Your reputation is grander than you are."
Robert laughs at this, not knowing if he is being mocked or complimented, "Appearances can be deceiving."
"That they are."
"I understand you have something that needs to be done."
"I need to fill crew so we can steal royal jewels." He says carefully and only loud enough that Robert can hear. "But we not steal them for keeps."
"I see."
He looks nervously at his assistance, and look back at Robert. He scoots a little closer to Robert and uses a quieter voice, as his assistant starts to look as if he is on full alert.
"We use this as token in negotiation," Says Hercle carefully. "We will use them in negotiation with baron until he agree to meet our demands, or he will not get jewels back. If you help us you will be paid hefty."
"You say 'hefty?'"
"Well, if we succeed I will give you 5,000 up front and then we see what happens later. And if you disagree with me, then my man," Mr Adon points up to his personal assistant who is now viciously smiling, "Hector will kill you."
"So, five thousand up front and an amount to be determined later, or I could die." Robert says as if he needs to actually ponder this.
"Yes."
"And who are the people I am signing up with here?"
"They will be revealed later."
Robert starts getting a bad feeling about this job. He starts to think to himself, "This seems like some horrible set up. Because of the fact he is telling me everything and I am just a guy he just met. He sounds crazy! He is either crazy, or he is setting me up. I wonder if he is on the level. Obviously has money, and he is obviously weird, but I don't care about the weird just as long as I get the money."
Robert then asks, "How do I know you can trust you?"
A grave look goes over his face, "My life at stake too."
Robert can see the truth, fear, and anguish bleed through his rough face. "And if we fail?"
"We all die."
"And you say the money is up front?"
"Yes."
"And my job is exactly to do what?"
"We know you very good thief. And we need someone to plan who knows area. We need someone familiar with city and museum. Our men very good but they have disadvantage of not knowing area."
"I am intrigued with the offer," Robert says as if he has a choice. "But I am not use to working with a crew. That's a little different for me. I just want to make sure they are not going to be in my way."
He pauses and talks to Hector in a foreign language. Their facial expressions only equate to a emotionless business conversation. And then he looks back at Robert, "I assure you, if you want alone then you not notice our men."
"And when do we start?"
"We will have crew assemble in next few hours. Then you can say who comes and who does not."
Robert thinks in silence for a minute or two, "You have the money right now?"
"Yes, my assistant get for you right now, if you accept."
"Well, it sounds like the alternative is to die, so it sounds like that job will be fantastic!"
Hercle Adon gives a command in their foreign language and a swift motion with his wrist. Hector, the personal assistant, goes to the elevators. Both Mr. Adon and Robert sit facing each other in awkward silence, even the lobby seems to get quieter as the absence of Hector grows ever present. But then the elevator chimes and Hector comes out.
"For payment," Says Hector as he sets the bag down into Robert's lap but then Mr. Adon clears his throat and shakes his head. Hector bows and smiles, "Sorry, I meant for up front payment."
Robert looks into the bag and smiles. But the wheels in Roberts head start to turn again, "So, why are you using the jewels as a negotiating tools. We're giving them back."
"Yes, they belong to Baron Calimtof. We try to get our people who live in Teresing to get sancturary in his country. If this works then my people have better chance for freedom in Teresing."
"Are your people here?"
"Yes, we have people here."
"Are there a lot of them?"
"We have good number here."
"Is this Baron Calimtof here as well?"
"Yes here in town, but he kept in a undisclosed location. The government keep him safe, but not from us."
"He is a pretty popular guy, huh?"
"Some people say he tyrant, other say he saint. Same with all politicians."
Robert says his goodbyes and starts to leave, but Hercle Adon follows him. Robert stops and turns around.
"We met tomorrow in morning." He says as he gives Robert a card with a name and address on it. He then turns around and leaves down the lobby with his assistant and disappear back into the elevator.
